Situated in rolling countryside of the northern Var about 50 km inland from the sea almost directly north of St Tropez, surrounded by vineyards Les Vignes was built about 60 years ago, and totally renovated to the highest standard in recent years. A secluded and extremely comfortable and romantic hideaway about 1 km from the village of St Antonin du Var, in one of the best-loved areas of Provence. Not overlooked by neighbours and with spectacular views over open countryside and hills. There are opportunities for wonderful walks over hills covered in wild thyme, rosemary and cypress all of which contribute to the unforgetable scents of Provence. Considered the gastronomic heartland of Provence, there are at least five Michelin starred restaurants within a short drive.The Var is the least developed department in the South of France and remains unspoilt. There are many medieval hill-top villages and towns in the surrounding area such as Entrecasteaux, Salernes, Tourtour, Villecroze and Aups. All these towns have their weekly markets selling local produce. There are also many 'Brocante and Vide Greniers' (literally 'empty the attic') during the summer months.

The local village has a well-stocked small shop, selling, the day’s “Times”, “Telegraph” and “Daily Mail” as well as the French newspapers. The village also boasts a family-run hotel with its very reasonable restaurant and its good tennis court (which can be used by tenants). There is also a very good baker as well as a hairdresser, and an excellent shop selling the local very good wines and local olive oil.

The town of Lorgues is 7 kms away with its medieval streets, magnificent church, and large weekly outdoor market. It has all the usual amenities supermarkets, ATMs, doctor, butcher, fishmonger, cinema, chemist, flower shop, several hairdressers and many cafes. There are several good restaurants including the Michelin-starred Chez Bruno.

The Villa is 75kms from Aix-en-Provence which, apart from its numerous museums and art galleries, hosts some of the most important musical events in France. It’s 100 kms from Nice international airport, and the same distance from Toulon (Hyères) airport which has some international flights. Marseilles international airport is 130 kms. The high speed train, the TGV, stops at Aix-en-Provence TGV station (between Aix and Marseilles), although some trains continue, rather more slowly, to Draguignan/Les Arcs, about 15 kms from the Villa. Arrangements can be made for people to be collected from both the airports and the train stations.

This lovely villa provided us with an idyllic retreat from which we were reluctant to return - it really did feel like a home from home. The sun shone constantly, the pool was magnificent, and the staff were both helpful and unobtrusive. The numerous terraces and resting places surrounding the villa provided enchanting views, and we felt no inclination to do anything much other than enjoy being in such a tranquil, alluring location. It's rare to return from a holiday feeling quite so rejuvenated and relaxed."
